Hemangioma is a benign neoplasm arising from endothelial cells of vessels of various calibers, such as capillaries, veins, and arteries. This pathology manifests itself mainly in children under one year of age, but can also occur in adults.

According to statistics, about 10% of newborns have a hemangioma on the skin at birth. In most young patients (50-70%) this formation resolves on its own by the age of five to seven. During adolescence, simple hemangiomas located on the skin almost completely disappear.

Hemangiomas can be both isolated skin lesions and a component of complex hereditary syndromes.

The clinical manifestations of hemangiomas have characteristic features and are leading in their diagnosis, and modern methods of treatment (laser therapy, cryodestruction, sclerotherapy, etc.) allow specialists to cope with this problem.

The first manifestations of hemangioma are a red papule, similar to a scratch, or a small spot (1-5 mm). The appearance of a red papule may be preceded by a small hypovascularized spot.

During life, hemangiomas can change, and quite radically.
