Every year, 50 thousand new cases of cancer are registered in the world. At the same time, the number of malignant skin tumors – melanomas – has tripled in the last 20 years. These figures force every dermatocosmetologist to pay special attention to examining the skin of their patients.
The main types of malignant skin tumors are melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma. The latter two diseases are among the most common types of cancer. They account for 90% of all malignant skin tumors.
As a rule, these diseases occur in people after the age of 50 on exposed areas of the body (face, neck, shoulders, forearms, outer side of the palms). And most often the main cause of this is many years of excessive exposure to the sun.
