Selecting the ideal biorevitalizant: what should you pay attention to?
These days, specialists are surrounded by approximately 50 to 100 brands of biorevitalization drugs. How can you not get lost in such a wide range of products? What should be the guidelines?
Yulia Kievskaya, Candidate of Biological Sciences, scientific director of YK School, cosmetologist-pharmacist
Biorevitalization is the gold standard of cosmetological procedures and a modern trend. The intensive growth in the number of drugs based on hyaluronic acid poses a difficult task for the specialist - to make the right choice. Often the data presented by companies is limited to the main advantages for the purpose of advertising the product, leaving behind the scenes scientific achievements and discoveries of a unique, multifunctional and multifaceted biopolymer.
Everyone's favorite hyaluronic acid!
HA is not a passive connective tissue molecule; its role is important and multifaceted in many vital physiological processes and is not limited to banal hydration:
wound healing activity – enhances fibroblast migration and proliferation of epithelial cells;
anti-inflammatory effect through improved microcirculation;
antimicrobial effect through activation of bactericidal factors on the surface of the skin and on wound surfaces;
immunomodulatory effect through increased phagocytosis;
antioxidant activity – accepts reactive oxygen species, blocking free radical oxidation;
has antitoxic and hemostatic activity.
How to choose a drug for biorevitalization?
Criteria for choosing biorevitalizants:
Physicochemical and biochemical parameters of hyaluronic acid
First of all, it is necessary to study the characteristics of the drug, since the different behavior of different forms of HA in the skin affects both the tactics and technique of administering hyaluronic preparations. What you should pay attention to:
molecular weight of HA
concentration of HA per 1 ml of the drug or per full volume
native or modified hyaluronic acid, hybrid technologies
additional substances in the composition of the drug and their effect
country of origin, registration of the drug as a medical device
microbiological testing
if the manufacturer claims any new or unique qualities of the drug, it would be good to familiarize yourself with the research
Genetics, epigenetics of the body
It is important to carefully examine the client, as well as review the medical history and establish the following:
aging morphotype
constitutional skin type, Fitzpatrick phototype
signs of natural and premature aging
age
gender
concomitant diseases, contraindications to the procedure
epigenetic features of life
The purpose and objectives of our procedure:
geroprotective programs
prevention of the damaging effects of UV
preparation and/or rehabilitation for cosmetic procedures
fabric reinforcement
therapy for certain types of dermatitis
therapy for scars and stretch marks
The result of the procedure directly depends on the correctly selected drug, depending on the state of the body and the goals set.
In future publications we will look at these parameters in detail.
