Perfect lips: products and procedures that will ensure proper care

The aging process of the perioral region in general and the skin of the lips in particular is related to the physiological and anatomical features of this area. The visible surface of the lips is covered with skin, which turns into a mucous membrane on their back surface. The thickness of the lips is mainly formed by the circular muscle of the mouth, loose connective tissue, skin and mucous membrane. The lips are located at the point of transition of the skin into the mucous membrane.

External influence

Increased sensitivity to the influence of external factors is due to the characteristics of the lips and perioral region. Lips are exposed to the sun more intensively than all other areas of the skin. In winter, their skin is also affected by the dry air of heated rooms and the aggressive frosty wind outside. Photodamage to the skin leads to damage to the cells of the dermis and epidermis, and this has a devastating effect on the hydrolipid mantle of the skin, due to which the autogenous possibilities of protection and restoration are quickly exhausted.

The consequence of chronological (biological) aging is a decrease in the volume of the lips, discoloration of the contours, the appearance of wrinkles, and dryness of the skin. The muscle tone around the mouth decreases. Lips become thinner, sunken (this is especially noticeable on the upper lip). Wrinkles appear - "pouch" (around the mouth) and "puppet wrinkles" (in the corners of the mouth). Age-related changes in the lower part of the face are characterized by thinning of the skin, a decrease in muscle tone; adipose tissue shifts down, "blocks" are formed, a second chin, the oval of the face is disturbed.
