Laser technologies in the treatment of onychomycosis

Onychomycosis is an infectious disease of the nails caused by dermatomycetes, yeasts or molds, and is one of the most common diseases of the skin and its appendages. According to various sources, this pathology affects from 10 to 25% of the population.
Fungal nail infections affect people aged 20 and over, with men being affected on average 30% more often than women. At the same time, the risk of developing onychomycosis increases by 2.5 times every 10 years of life. Thus, the forecasts for this disease are not optimistic - the incidence of onychomycosis will increase, as the world's population "ages", which affects the increase in the incidence rate.
Who is to blame?
Dermatophytes (Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytyes) account for 90% of all fungal nail diseases. In second place are yeast fungi of the genus Candida - candidal onychomycosis is characterized by a predominant lesion of the fingernails.
