Pathogenesis of menopausal metabolic syndrome
A modern woman spends about a third of her life in a state of menopause, and it is in this age category that the prevalence of obesity is quite high.
Obesity with insulin resistance is one of the leading criteria for metabolic syndrome (MS), the prevalence of which is 23.7% among US adults (24% among men and 23.4% among women).
The increased risk of developing obesity and a number of other pathological conditions against the background of estrogen deficiency causes interest in the study of metabolic syndrome during menopause in women, which was singled out as a special nosology called "menopausal metabolic syndrome" (MMS).
Pathogenesis of menopausal metabolic syndrome The most important role in the development of MMS belongs to the influence of obesity or excess body weight. Rapid weight gain after menopause is observed in approximately 60% of women.
