Gynoid lipodystrophy: a cosmetic and psychological problem
Aesthetic correction of cellulite is a form of self-care

Body-positive trends call for treating cellulite as a normal phenomenon on a woman's body. This is not a disease or pathology, but the desire to get rid of it is connected with the general aesthetics of the body. Cellulite is not a health hazard, but if it is "triggered", lipodystrophy can occur.
Gynoid lipodystrophy (that is, changes in adipose tissue that are specific to the female body) is a more correct name for cellulite (this term was originally used to refer to inflammation of the connective tissue in the skin).
The appearance of structural deformation of adipose tissue under the skin is a natural change. Transformations in the structure of subcutaneous fat and connective tissue, which have clear visual signs on the skin, are the result of mechanical deformation of the skin in the process of hypertrophy of superficial fat cells and the increase in the phenomena of lipodystrophy. To the greatest extent, this phenomenon is peculiar to women, because their body, by its specificity, cannot but have subcutaneous fat - especially in the area of the reproductive organs.
Changes in subcutaneous adipose tissue occur in those areas where it is the most - on the hips, buttocks, abdomen. Sometimes cellulite appears on the upper part of the arms, sides. Doctors state that 8 out of 10 women, regardless of age, build, weight and physical activity, have these changes.
