Cellulite: what should be considered when choosing treatment tactics?
A question that does not lose its relevance
The opinions of specialists regarding the nature, causes, mechanisms and methods of treatment of cellulite differ somewhat among themselves. However, the main task of each specialist is to develop a balanced, professional and individual approach to this problem.
Cellulite, or lipodystrophy, is a female-specific change in adipose tissue that is part of the hypodermis, which manifests itself in the form of a small bumpy surface of the skin, the so-called "orange peel". Changes that consistently occur at the level of subcutaneous adipose tissue should be considered as edematous-fibrosclerotic panniculopathy.
Cellulite is not considered a disease and is not included in the International Statistical Classification of Diseases. It is not found in 100% of the female population, which does not allow it to be classified as secondary sexual characteristics, so today it is considered a cosmetic defect. However, this fact does not diminish the importance of this deficiency for modern medicine and, in particular, cosmetology.
Characteristic signs of cellulite include uneven deposition of subcutaneous fat, retention of fluid in the subcutaneous adipose tissue, accumulation of toxins, and fibrous growth of connective tissue. A similar condition is observed in 80–85% of women, mainly in the thighs and buttocks, sometimes in the abdomen and upper arms. The formation of cellulite can occur already during puberty.
