Let's talk about fractional laser rejuvenation: its mechanism and features of the procedure, indications and contraindications, rehabilitation and post-procedural care, effectiveness and advantages of the procedure.

What is fractional laser rejuvenation?

Fractional laser rejuvenation is a procedure that is a highly effective and low-traumatic laser effect on the skin. At the same time, microzones (fractions) of damage are formed in the laser treatment zone, surrounded by intact skin areas, which ensure further rapid regeneration.

What are the indications and contraindications for the procedure?

Indications for fractional laser rejuvenation:

  • decrease in turgor and elasticity of the skin of the face and body;
  • wrinkles of varying degrees of expressiveness - from thin lines to deep furrows;
  • changes in the relief of the skin - post-acne scars, unevenness, pronounced porosity;
  • thin, dry skin; hyperpigmentation;
  • wrinkles and excess skin in the periorbital area;
  • stretch marks on any part of the body.

Contraindications to this procedure are:

  • pregnancy and lactation period;
  • systemic diseases of connective tissue;
  • acute diseases and chronic diseases in the exacerbation phase;
  • herpes and skin damage in the area subject to laser exposure.

What happens to the skin as a result of fractional laser exposure?

Thanks to the fractional principle of delivering laser radiation in the skin, during its laser treatment, microdamages are formed in the form of columns - so-called microthermal zones (up to 120 μm in diameter), surrounded by a zone of thermal stimulation (up to 350 μm in diameter). The depth of microthermal zones ranges from 350 to 2000 microns, depending on the power of laser radiation. As a result, 15 to 35% of the skin is subjected to laser coagulation in the treated area (in some cases, for example, when treating atrophic and hypertrophic scars - up to 70%).
