In recent years, the problem of body shaping according to the statistics of patients visiting aesthetic medicine centers has become very relevant. But this does not mean that there was no cellulite before. One need only look at the canvases of Renaissance artists to see that such a condition was present on the skin of our ancestors.

A number of factors have made the problem of cellulite relevant in our time. The main one is that more and more women are starting to take dubious drugs, nutritional supplements, convenience foods and hormonal contraceptives. In the fight against stress, they begin to consume alcoholic beverages, coffee and tea in large quantities, and smoke, which leads to a change in the hormonal background of the women's body.

The rapid development of aesthetic medicine in recent years, a sharp increase in the requirements for the appearance and figure of women have led to the fact that cellulite occupies one of the main places in cosmetology clinics.

Due to the fact that cellulite develops only in women, some authors tend to consider it a second sexual characteristic. Although this point of view is questioned by other authors who believe that cellulite is also found in men, but due to the structural features of the connective tissue framework of the skin, in which collagen fibers (as more resistant) prevail over elastin and less pronounced subcutaneous fat, they have this cosmetic defect is less pronounced.

Cellulite is an aesthetic defect caused by uneven deposition of fat, weakening of skin tone, congestion of blood and lymph circulation. To understand the pathogenesis of cellulite, it is necessary to repeat the basic concepts of the structure and functions of adipose tissue.
