The myth that beauty salons are a purely female activity and a real man should be only a little prettier and more well-groomed than a monkey has long been debunked. Today, to our great joy, men are increasingly becoming clients of beauty salons and spa studios.

What can a man do in the ladies' cloister? For example, sitting in the hall, looking longingly at the clock, waiting for your girlfriend. So I thought until one day in front of me at the reception, a rather brutal-looking young man paid for eyelash tinting. The first thought was that he was paying for his girlfriend or wife, but... no, he left the salon alone. This is where questions arose about what a man does in a beauty salon?

Ancient metrosexuals

Egypt: whitening

In Ancient Egypt, not everyone was allowed to take care of their face and body. For a long time, such procedures were the privilege of male priests. They constantly performed ablutions and treated their skin with ointments and oils made from medicinal plants. Also, the ancient “macho men” tried by all means to achieve aristocratic pallor. The main weapon against dark skin in those days were masks that whitened the face, made it matte and hid defects.

China: manicure

In ancient China, well-groomed hands and long nails were a hallmark of representatives of the wealthy class. Moreover, manicures were done by both high-born women and noble men. Natural dyes were used to color nails: paint was made from wax, egg whites, gelatin and gum arabic. Rich Chinese men were so careful about their manicure that they even wore special cases made of precious metals decorated with beautiful stones on their fingers.

Rome: hair removal

The more hair a man has, the cooler he is! The ancient Romans would categorically disagree with this statement. Warriors and representatives of higher circles considered it bad form to have thick thickets of wool on their bodies. Therefore, in the Roman baths, where noble people spent the whole day, hair removal was one of the main points of procedures. Moreover, hair removal was done in an extremely painful way - with the help of tweezers.

What's happening now?

Today, men's beauty salons with appropriate procedures are opening. More and more heterosexual men take control of their health and appearance: they visit spa treatments to get rid of stress, go to a cosmetologist to keep their faces well-groomed, and get manicures and pedicures. Moreover, they get tattoos and piercings, get rid of excess hair, so as not to torment themselves with constant shaving. The myth that beauty salons are a purely female activity and a real man should be only a little prettier and more well-groomed than a monkey has long been debunked. Today, to our great joy, men are increasingly becoming clients of beauty salons and spa studios. True, there are also those who, either because of fear or because of prejudice, cannot cross the threshold of such establishments. However, it’s worth trying to go to a salon for the relaxation and care everyone needs.

Why did men start going to beauty salons?

The jobs that are so important to men now require them to look good. The career of a modern man is hampered not only by dirty nails, but also by bad facial skin, bad teeth, cheap clothes, and an unfashionable haircut. Even in the recent past, a woman’s dream was a man with a stern, weathered face and rough, calloused hands, from which it is immediately clear that their owner is hardworking and will feed his family. Now priorities have changed: a successful person works not with his hands, but with his head, not on the street, not in the field or at sea, but in a warm office, so his well-groomed appearance indicates well-being and high social status.

Men began to pay more attention to their appearance. The market responded to this not only with the active production of numerous men's skin care lines for the face, hair and feet, but also with the opening of specialized beauty salons for men, where you can see not only politicians, theater and film stars, and famous athletes. Increasingly, men whose lifestyle is not connected with public activity come there - they just want to look better. These are mainly successful businessmen and top managers, representatives of the middle class. On the main page of the website of one American beauty salon for men you can find a message written in capital letters: “Women like well-groomed men.”

The most attractive services for men

What procedure have you never managed to persuade a male client to undergo? I would replace the word “persuad” with “convince.” After all, we are not dealing with impulse purchases, but with identifying a need, and then the process of forming a culture of consumption of salon services begins, and this is a constant and long-term process. This approach takes time. If you fail to convince, then it’s too early to draw the line; you need to continue working. I can share how I managed to convince a client to use mesotherapy services.

A salon client came for cosmetic treatment. During the dialogue, he had many doubts and complete rejection and indecision. Arguments about the high professionalism of the master, the emphasis on the fact that she is a doctor (this inspires confidence in a man), the possibility of consultation, a separate office in which you will be protected from prying eyes, the absence of visible changes on the skin after injections - all this helped the client make a decision .

Usually, the first time it is not possible to attract a man’s interest in the services of hardware cosmetology and injection techniques. But if the client has already formed trust in the cosmetologist, then at a certain stage you can resort to an additional communication channel. This multi-step approach significantly increases the chances of success.

In the salon, a man can also be offered to undergo special programs “anti-stress”, “deep relaxation” (during the procedure the client can even take a nap), spa treatments, aromatherapy, pleasant vibration capsules with warm steam, as well as a therapeutic, relaxing massage.

Massage

When choosing a procedure, first of all, men strive not for body correction, but for a healing effect. Head massage is a massage of the scalp, namely the temples, occipital and frontal areas. This massage is periodically necessary, without exception, for every healthy person, and especially for those leading active mental activity, engaged in work involving frequent stressful situations.

Hair treatment

The modern man is not only elegantly dressed and clean-shaven, but also well-groomed. A business man whose image is impossible without healthy hair can be offered a comprehensive hair care and treatment program at the salon.

Irritation and peeling

95% of men have combination or oily skin, often sensitive. So the peeling that many representatives of the stronger sex suffer from is not explained by natural dryness, but by improper care. Cosmetics for men, such as aftershave balms, are traditionally made with large amounts of menthol. It gives a feeling of freshness, but at the same time it dries out. To restore comfort, it is enough to consult with a dermatologist and use the products that a specialist will select taking into account the individual characteristics of the skin.

Pigmentation
Men's skin is denser, so it suffers less from ultraviolet radiation and is not so often covered with pigment spots. But the stronger sex has its own weak point - baldness. If its owner carelessly refuses a hat, cap or bandana on sunny days, over time the burning rays will certainly leave unaesthetic marks on the scalp. You can restore its even color with the help of lightening procedures and creams. True, this is not a quick task, so it is better to still maintain “pureness” with the help of hats.

Double chin
Despite all the dislike for injections, when it comes to mesotherapy for the double chin, men are ready to endure. The doctor injects special drugs that reduce the volume of fat cells, and the oval of the face becomes more toned after the first session. After a full course of procedures (once a week), only one chin remains, clear and courageous, like that of a western hero.

Hyperhidrosis
Another exception to the complex relationship between men and the syringe is the injection of botulinum toxin into the armpits or palms. Representatives of the stronger sex endure this not very pleasant procedure, because after the injections the problem of excessive sweating does not bother them for several months. The rational male brain produces a logical conclusion: it is better to gather your willpower once or twice a year and come to the salon than to constantly feel awkward from wet circles under your hands.

Wrinkles
Maybe scars decorate a man, but wrinkles age everyone without exception. In the fair sex they are often superficial - the finely wrinkled type, as dermatologists say. And representatives of the strong usually have a couple of folds on the whole face, only two or three, but very deep, giving it a tired, unfriendly expression. It is difficult to completely level them, but it is quite possible to improve their appearance. The main techniques are botulinum toxin injections, injection of filler gel to fill wrinkles from the inside, refreshing peelings, microcurrents. As you can see, it’s the same as for women, only taking into account the structural features of men’s skin: for example, gel filler is more often used to smooth the forehead, rather than botulinum toxin. The main thing is that the result is the same - a fresher appearance and increased self-esteem.

Bags under the eyes

With this cosmetic defect, a person does not look the best - a heavy look and an unpleasant impression of the face as a whole. And in men, it is often complemented by protruding brow ridges and severe folds on the forehead, which creates a very “Neanderthal image.” A cosmetologist will help you change your look, choosing from an arsenal of injection and hardware techniques those that are suitable in each specific case. A bonus especially for gentlemen – radio wave lifting. This is a pleasant and effective rejuvenating procedure, regardless of gender, but for our “thick-skinned” men it gives a more noticeable effect for the area under the eyes.

Depilation

This procedure is widely popular. Most men do not consider facial and body hair unnecessary, but there are still moments that are difficult to be proud of. For example, eyebrows that grow together on the bridge of the nose, stubble high on the cheekbones, giving a “villainous” look, and especially hair in the area of the transition from the chin to the neck, where the skin is often irritated and inflamed from shaving. In these cases, gentlemen are recommended several sessions of laser or photo hair removal. Since facial hair growth is closely related to hormonal levels, the results of procedures for our men will not be very lasting, but the skin will remain smooth for several months. Mostly men prefer to get rid of unwanted hair on the nose, back and chest.

Correction of male eyebrows

The shape of the eyebrows can be used to judge a person's character. Shapeless, overgrown eyebrows, tufts and long dark hairs sticking out separately indicate the recklessness and unreliability of their owner. Neat, well-groomed eyebrows, on the contrary, speak of determination and strong character.

***

It makes sense to make a separate price list for men. It's always nice to know that you are going through a procedure designed just for you. Step by step, guide the man in his conquest of the salon territory, provide him with the necessary information, a high level of professionalism, appropriate service - and you will acquire a grateful regular client.
