What help is available in Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, more than 2.5 million Ukrainians have left for neighboring countries. Nearly 160,000 more people moved to safer regions of Ukraine. Most of the refugees are women and children.

According to the UN, 54% of the people who need help because of the war of war are women. They are also noted to be disproportionately affected by conflict.

To support women and girls affected by the war in Ukraine, many initiatives are being created, in which everyone is involved - from large international organizations to small public ones. Here is a list of some of them.

  • Support for pregnant women throughout Ukraine. You can find midwives online .
  • Humanitarian assistance to women and children affected by the war. NGO "Girls" provides support to families from areas heavily affected by the Russian invasion - Irpen, Bucha, Vorzel, Gostomel and Kotsyubinsky. Families with children can receive financial support for food, medicines and hygiene products - it is 1000 UAH. To get help, you need to fill out a special form .
  • Vinnytsia: free meals for refugees and volunteers from the social enterprise " Good cake ".
  • Psychological help is available from the Institute for Cognitive Modeling. For this purpose the platform " Tell me " and the bot were created.
  • Svetlana Roiz and the Ministry of Education and Science have launched a video project " Psychological care " for children. The project consists of three videos in which experts tell how to care for a child in a bomb shelter, how to talk during an evacuation, how to find words if one of the parents went to war.
  • On social media pages, La Strada-Ukraine offers free psychological consultations for parents who want to understand the condition of their children and receive support. Follow the link: Facebook , Instagram , Telegram .
  • There is a support line for the Ukrainian Child Rights Network and UNICEF. Foster families, family-type orphanages, families raising a disabled child, and any families with children in need of assistance can receive informational assistance from specialists on the line. Social workers, employees of children's services and other structures accompanying families and caring for children can also apply for support.

  • The UNFPA Service in Ukraine provides free psychological support to Ukrainian women. The National Hotline for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, Human Trafficking and Gender Discrimination operates online.   • Psychologists at the Breaking Circle career hub are ready to help women reduce stress and anxiety. Consultations are available by phone, as well as via Messenger, Viber, Telegram.

  • The online platform from the volunteer initiative "Protection of the Children of Ukraine" offers free lessons for children, as well as psychological assistance. Children from all over Ukraine with Internet access can study with teachers in real time. Volunteers from abroad joined the platform.

  • The People in Need initiative offers psychological support to all those affected by the war. Hotline 0800210160 operates around the clock, seven days a week. Calls are private, anonymous and free.
