Varying Strokes in Permanent Makeup: Crosshatching
Practicing the shading technique in permanent makeup
In permanent make-up, it is with the help of lines and shading that masters create a pattern, show volume or convey chiaroscuro. We continue to improve hatching skills, because this is the first and important task of any master.
We continue to hone the technique of permanent makeup and today we propose to work on developing the skill of achieving rich color without pressing on the pencil, applying layers of strokes to each other at the right angle.
We offer another exercise to the PM master’s arsenal, which will allow you to work out a stroke on paper, after which you can direct your efforts to developing the ability to vary strokes in the right directions, slopes, work in shape, with a gradient, color and shade. That is, to develop all the skills that will be needed to perform a beautiful, high-quality permanent makeup.
Exercise 3
Crosshatching is done in several layers. We perform the first layer with a direct stroke (see the article Permanent Makeup Basics: Practicing Hatching ), observing all quality criteria (parallelism of the stroke, the beginning and end are slightly thinner and lighter than the middle, the strokes are tightly pressed against each other).
The next layer must be applied at a slight angle to the previous one, also using direct hatching. The third layer is at a slight angle already to the second layer.
If we consider this type of hatching in the "sparse" version, then the first layer is applied at a right angle (90 °), the second layer - strokes go at an angle of 70 °, the third layer - direct hatching at an angle of 45 °. And so on.
As usual, we perform a cross-hatching strip during training, focusing on the length of the sheet. We train the cross-hatching technique by alternating stripes with two layers with stripes of three layers. For high-quality development, it is recommended to draw at least 20 stripes.
Of course, such tasks require perseverance and patience, but this will allow you to improve your hatching technique and bring it to perfection!
