You need to approach the permanent procedure consciously!

If your clients know what a tattoo refresh is, then they will have no difficulty updating the result, and you will have no difficulty with clients.

Every permanent makeup artist knows that over time, the tattoo becomes paler, and then completely disappears. This is due to natural processes occurring in the body: the cells cannot leave the pigment "without attention", destroying and removing it gradually with the lymph from the upper layers of the skin. In addition, the color of the pigment is affected by UV rays, as well as cleansers or any other facial products. This process cannot be prevented, which is why every client needs a permanent makeup refresh some time after the procedure.

Refreshing the tattoo

Refresh in translation from English means "refresh". Thus, a tattoo refresh is a procedure for updating a shade, during which clear contours are not drawn, the pigment is injected shallowly, which contributes to rapid tissue regeneration. Masters recommend that the color correction of the tattoo be done every 12-18 months. This period depends on the metabolic rate, the quality of the dye and the technique of performing permanent makeup.

At the initial consultation, the master is obliged to inform the new client that it is impossible to do permanent makeup and forget about it for many years. Tattoo requires first a correction - 1-2 months after the initial procedure, and then a refresh - the renewal of pigments. And you need to immediately warn the client that not every master will undertake permanent makeup 5 years ago, and it will cost a lot if you do not plan a second visit in advance and let this process take its course. If you, as a master, can assign the date of correction to the client immediately, focusing on the time required for complete regeneration of the skin after permanent makeup, then you will not be able to guess when the client needs a refresh.

Therefore, we recommend that you prepare a memo for clients, which will indicate what signs should tell you exactly when he needs to contact his master for a tattoo refresh:

  • The color saturation has decreased, the lips and eyebrows have become pale and inexpressive;
  • The shade of the makeup of the lips or eyebrows has become colder, the color of the pigment looks different and it looks unnatural;
  • Eyebrow tint no longer matches hair color for example, in the case when the client decided to return her natural light color;
  • There was a need to use a decorative pencil;
  • The contour became blurry;
  • There are partial gaps in the pigment.

Thus, the tattoo refresh restores the brightness of the pigment, allows you to eliminate gaps in the dye, corrects inaccuracies and maintains a well-groomed appearance. Renewal implies a permanent make-up procedure along the original contours while maintaining the shape. In this case, a slight correction of the shape in some areas is possible (if the color has disappeared completely).

How often do you need to refresh permanent makeup

The fading of the tattoo begins for everyone at different times, but this does not happen earlier than a year later. Interestingly, the need to update permanent makeup depends not only on the individual characteristics of the body, but also on the area of tattooing.

Eyebrow refresh will be required in about 1-2 years, lip refresh should be done every 1-1.5 years. Least of all you need to carry out a refresh century - after 4-5 years.

Once again, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that it is not recommended to do a permanent makeup refresh more often than once a year, despite its safety, which should be repeatedly emphasized in permanent makeup courses for future masters. But it’s not worth delaying either - if the tattoo fades so much that it almost completely loses its contours and color, it will no longer be possible to refresh it with the help of such a procedure. In this case, you will have to start all over again, and do a full-fledged permanent makeup.

Refresh vs correction

We remind you that the correction is carried out a month or two after the tattoo. The purpose of this procedure is to correct shortcomings: gaps in color, incorrectly selected shade, correction of the shape of the arc. While the refresh does not correct the shape and does not radically change the color. The permanent renewal procedure is done about a year after the tattoo, when the dye is firmly entrenched in the skin. If a correction is needed to correct shortcomings, then a refresh is a regular tattoo update, which is required even if the first procedure was performed perfectly.

Most cosmetic procedures require constant renewal. These procedures include permanent makeup.
