Mistakes in permanent makeup, as in any other area, are still possible. How to avoid misses or correct a bad drawing - important points for the practitioner

Yes, permanent makeup remains at the peak of popularity and continues to gain momentum. But, despite this, even many specialists practicing in this field may not know all its subtleties thoroughly. And some clients generally think that it will be enough to visit the salon once, the master will perform a tattoo in one session, and they will forget about decorative cosmetics for a long time, without any renewal and correction procedures. However, everything is far from being so simple.

Despite the fact that permanent makeup has been known for a long time and is used very widely, mistakes by masters, as in any other field, still occur (and if the master is not very experienced, they are not uncommon). For a practicing master, the desire to avoid mistakes is commendable, but the main thing is that he must know how to correct an unsuccessful sketch or miscalculation in color. And if there is a defect in your work - to be able to correct or make a correction in time. But what is a correction, when and why to do it? Many clients do not know and ask the question - is it possible to do without correction at all?

There are three types of PM correction - primary, refresh (further update) and correction - correction of an unsuccessful result. We offer you the information that the PM masters must convey in detail to their clients.

Primary correction of permanent makeup

Primary correction is prescribed 1-2 months after the first procedure. This is how long it takes for permanent makeup to heal completely and the master could see all the nuances of the healed result. Primary correction of the PM is required primarily in order to achieve the ideal result, so that the lines remain clear and the color uniform. The master is obliged to warn the client about this even before the start of the procedure, so that he builds the right expectations from the tattoo and does not think that the masters specifically prescribe a correction in order to take an additional payment for not being very diligent the first time. Explain to the client that you simply cannot predict in advance how the healing process will go and what the result will be.

The fact that the master must guarantee the professional level of the procedure, use high-quality pigments and equipment - this is not the point, this is an obligatory fact. The master cannot influence how these pigments take root in the skin. This will depend on individual factors such as:

  • client's health and skin condition - pigments are better preserved on dry skin than on oily. And the paradox is that good immunity, which in itself is an excellent indicator, sometimes leads to the fact that the body will reject the pigment as a foreign element;
  • correct care - the safety and uniformity of pigmentation will also depend on how the recommendations for care are followed during the healing of permanent makeup, how healing will take place.

What does the master PM take into account during the initial correction and what should he pay special attention to?

  1. Unevenly applied pigment or gaps - eliminates all color defects that appeared during the healing process;
  2. Contour lines "floated" during the healing period - makes them clearer, corrects the contour;
  3. Hue of color - checks the intensity and adjusts it if necessary;

In addition, the primary correction is also done to enhance the effectiveness of the PM and give it greater durability.

Refresh

A further update of permanent makeup is called the word “refresh”, which means “updating, refreshing” something. In our case, this is a way to refresh permanent makeup, if after a certain period of time it gradually loses its color saturation. This usually happens 1-3 years after the first procedure and the renewal is carried out in order to restore the brightness of the pattern, which has faded from time to time.

During a preliminary consultation with the client, the master must find out why he came to the PM office and what he expects from the procedure: perhaps this is a one-time experiment on appearance and the client will simply wait until the color loses its intensity and the pigment leaves the skin completely? Or is the girl determined to wear a tattoo for a long time?

In the second case, you should immediately warn that permanent makeup needs to be updated from time to time. How often the client will have to return to you depends on the individual characteristics of the body and the speed with which the pigment will come off the skin.

Refresh is similar to primary correction, with the only difference that primary correction is done to bring the results of the PM to an ideal state, and refresh is to update it. The master appoints the date of the primary correction to the client immediately - while he focuses on the time required for complete regeneration of the skin after tattooing. When a refresh may be needed, the master cannot predict, since the loss of color (fading of the tattoo) for everyone begins at different times and passes with varying degrees of intensity. In any case, this happens no earlier than a year later.

Since the skin is already adapted and healing is faster, the refresh is considered a less aggressive procedure.

The required frequency of renewal of a permanent tattoo, as we have said, is influenced by the condition of the skin and the general health of the client, but that's not all. It is also important to take into account age and lifestyle, because young skin gets rid of the coloring pigment embedded in it faster than more mature ones, and frequent exposure to the sun will accelerate the need for renewal, since permanent makeup tends to fade.

An interesting fact: the need to update permanent makeup also depends on the tattoo area, and not only on the individual characteristics of the body. So, experts recommend eyebrow refresh after about 1-2 years, lips refresh - once every 1-1.5 years, but eyelid tattooing requires a refresh only after 4-5 years.

How can a client determine when it is necessary to sign up for a refresh? Encourage them to look for the following signs:

  • permanent makeup has lost color, brightness, the client is increasingly in need of decorative cosmetics;
  • tattooing lips or eyebrows will take on a colder shade, and this gives the tattoo an unnatural look;
  • shape correction is required, the contours have lost their clarity;
  • I want to make the arrows on the eyelids more intense;
  • the hair color has been changed and the shade of permanent makeup is no longer suitable.

The client must remember that it is not worth delaying the renewal of the PM - if the tattoo almost completely loses its contours and color, it will not be possible to refresh it with the help of a refresh. In this case, you will need to start all over again and do a full-fledged permanent makeup.

Correcting an unsatisfactory result

Correction - the third type of correction, which is done if the client is not satisfied, first of all, with the color of the tattoo or the shape and location. Correction is the most difficult type of procedure, which requires great skill and knowledge from the master. when starting to correct, remember that the consequences of an unsuccessful correction can bring the client much more problems than the initial errors. In addition, not every pigment for permanent makeup is suitable for the correction procedure and not every device is able to do it effectively.
