Not by tattooing alone: correction of the perioral region

Note to permanent makeup masters

The perioral area (the area around the mouth) is one of the most problematic for aesthetic correction. What methods, besides permanent make-up, can be used to correct age-related changes?

The perioral area (the area around the mouth) is one of the most problematic for aesthetic correction. At the same time, it is she, as well as the area around the eyes (periorbital) that undergo age-related changes earlier than others.

Unfortunately, every year the lips lose their attractiveness: they lose their precious moisture, become thin, as if pursed, like those of an inveterate skeptic. And they also fade - sometimes they just turn pale, sometimes they acquire a rather unpleasant bluish tint. Wrinkles deserve a separate discussion.

Emotions show up first. These small and fine wrinkles are usually located in the corners of the mouth, as well as in the nasolabial folds. They can occur at the age of 20, and by the age of 30, as a rule, they are inevitable. It is impossible to prevent their appearance - except to forbid yourself to laugh or cry! A little later, closer to the age of 40, the skin around the lips, the perioral area, ages. This is the "sphere of influence" of the circular muscle of the mouth, which works almost constantly. When it contracts, it pulls the skin along with it. Young elastic skin is quickly restored, with age - everything is different. Muscles relax, and traces of their contractions remain. The aging process accelerates sharply after 50 years. The skin around the lips and under the nose becomes flabby, dry, like parchment, covered with a thin network of wrinkles, loses elasticity and sags.

Plastic surgery or contour plastic surgery?

If the client is ready to make radical changes, he decides on lip plastic surgery. For example, if the upper lip is slightly elongated and ugly hangs over the lower one, a small operation will help, during which the surgeon will separate a thin strip of skin above the upper lip, create a new contour, and sew the edges with a thin cosmetic suture. The bandage will be removed in a week, and after ten days you can “try on” a new lipstick that will hide a small scar. By the way, you can disguise it with the help of permanent makeup.

To return the lips to their previous volume and correct the changed shape, there are several proven methods. First of all, this is contouring with the help of preparations based on hyaluronic acid. Once under the skin, it acts like a miniature sponge: it collects a large number of water molecules around itself, due to which the lips increase in volume. An additional bonus of using hyaluronic acid is that it stimulates the synthesis of its own collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans.

Another way to correct the volume and shape of the lips is “lipofilling”, a procedure using your own fat. On the one hand, this is a good option, since adipose tissue is not “alien” for the body, which means that it is not rejected and does not cause allergies. But there is also a significant disadvantage: the fat does not take root completely, up to 60% of the adipose tissue is absorbed and the lips quickly “deflate”. If the lips are not only thin, but also pale, permanent makeup can also help out. The easiest option is to outline the outline, simulating a pencil line. True, it works if the lips themselves are quite bright. By the way, to draw a perfect line on the skin covered with wrinkles is a job that requires jewelry precision. The task of the master is to keep the contour even, even during a smile or laughter. The shading method is used to update the color of the lips completely.

And here, too, special skills are needed. Firstly, with age, transverse wrinkles appear on the lips, which should be painted over with special care. Secondly, the color scheme is of great importance. Bright, flashy shades are completely inappropriate, therefore, natural tones of pink or caramel are recommended. It is worth remembering that aging skin is thinner, and any pigment on it will look brighter.

Moisturize and refresh

Techniques that not only do not injure the skin, but also are an excellent prevention of further aging, have proven themselves well in the correction of wrinkles in the lip area. First of all, it is, of course, biorevitalization. In this case, hyaluronic acid is also used, but more pure, that is, not chemically altered, in contrast to the one that is part of the preparations for contouring. It fills and smoothes wrinkles, restores the water balance of the skin, improves elasticity, and gives tone. But the main highlight of the technique is that after the first procedure, the intradermal matrix (environment) is restored, as a result of which skin cells begin to produce their own collagen and hyaluronic acid. The optimal result can be seen after three sessions of biorevitalization, carried out with a short break of two to three weeks. This is enough for the skin to receive the necessary amount of hyaluronic acid and work with it for five to six months.

To correct mimic wrinkles located both above the upper lip and in the corners of the mouth, botulinum toxin injections are effective, which blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to muscle fibers, and after several injections of the drug, the muscles relax and wrinkles quickly smooth out.

Expert opinion: when carrying out age-related tattooing, if possible, clear lines and a bright palette should be avoided so as not to emphasize wrinkles. To achieve maximum results, clients can be advised to undergo a course of procedures aimed at deep moisturizing of the skin, such as collagen injections, before undergoing a tattoo. And remember that with age, the metabolism slows down, so permanent makeup lasts much longer than in youth.
