So, you have decided to master the profession of a manicurist. We have found suitable courses, or maybe we have already received a certificate and are ready to start working. What minimum funds and tools do you need to start?
The profession of a manicurist today is quite in demand and well paid in the service market. The best way to master it is to find high-quality courses , where they will give you not only a good theoretical basis, but will also help you hone your skills in practice. Let's assume you have already completed your training, received a certificate and are ready to work. Where to begin? Of course, from the choice of tools and professional tools, without which starting a career is impossible.
What is the minimum required to get started and what is included in the kit of a novice manicurist - today we’ll figure it out with expert Ekaterina Shevchuk .
Ekaterina Shevchuk , nail service master with 12 years of experience, certified instructor of JZ Nails Group, two-time champion of Ukraine in classic manicure, founder of the “School of Modern Manicure”, co-owner of a beauty studio (Belaya Tserkov)
You have entered one of the most sought-after professions in the beauty industry - now you are a nail service master! Where to start? Typically, the first step is purchasing equipment, materials and disinfectants. The choice is so wide that even an experienced master can get confused, let alone a beginner... Therefore, I advise you to start with a basic set that every master needs.
Safety comes first
The most important set of tools that will ensure the safety of the master’s work:
- Disinfectant for instruments. I advise you to buy a concentrate that can be diluted and is suitable for various purposes - from working tools to surface disinfection
- Hand sanitizer. For mandatory asepsis of the client’s and practitioner’s hands before the procedure.
- Sterilizer. The most affordable and high-quality processing tool is a dry heater. To begin with, you can take it for 1-3 sets of tools. Important: a dry heater is a special medical equipment that must have a certificate and license from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
- Tray for disinfectant solution.
- Kraft bags for sterilization or metal trays.
Working tools, tools, equipment: minimum required
To start, you need to have at least two sets of manicure tools - for comfortable handling of tools between clients.
You will also need design brushes, thin brushes with long bristles, files for natural nails (220-240 grit), buff, polisher, cuticle oil, remover and consumables (orange sticks, lint-free wipes, cleanser, cotton pads, paper towels , gloves, masks).
Required materials for coating:
- Degreaser (prep, fresher, dehydrator);
- Primer (ultrabond, bond, primer);
- Rubber base (thick consistency);
- Camouflage base (for a single-color coating, for a French base, for designs);
- Top without sticky layer;
- Design (foil, slider design, rhinestones, etc.);
- Colored gel polishes. To begin with, it is better to take basic colors (red, burgundy, black, beige, white, pink), as well as shades that will be relevant in the season when you start working.
Manicure equipment
- Milling cutter (minimum 35 W, 35,000 rpm). It is better to choose TM made in Korea.
- LED hybrid lamp. Please note: the lamp must be 48/24 W power adjustable.
- The vacuum cleaner is desktop or built into the table (whichever is more convenient for the master) with a power of 60 W or more.
- Table lamp with LED bulb 4100-5000 K
- Armrest for the client (it is better to take a high one - this will provide comfort to the master and help him keep his back straight)
Remember: the processing of working tools and quality materials directly affect the health of the master! If you want to work in this profession for a long time and in good health, do not skimp on it.
We wish everyone a great start in the profession and further development!
