Crete is a new unisex nail polish brand from Lil Yachty
For men and women
Rapper Lil Yachty is launching his own nail polish brand, Crete, which promises to offer unisex products so men don't feel left out.
Men's nail design is slowly but surely gaining momentum, so manicurists definitely shouldn't ignore it. Another proof is the launch of a new brand of polishes by rapper Lil Yachty, which will produce products for both women and men.
The first Negatives 001 line will feature polishes in neutral shades: white, light gray and black with a matte finish. The bottles of the products are designed in a creative form of black handles.
Lil Yachty's desire to launch a nail brand first appeared in 2020, when 17-year-old student Trevor Wilkinson was suspended from school in Texas because he painted his nails with colored polish.
“If someone wants to express themselves in any way, as long as it doesn’t harm or humiliate anyone, they should be allowed to do so,” the musician defended Trevor. He also expressed hope that Crete will help men "feel more comfortable in their own skin." Lil himself also often paints his nails and thus encourages other men not to be shy and express themselves as they wish.
Although men have been painting their nails for decades, men's manicures are now becoming especially popular among male musicians. In recent years, we have watched with curiosity the nail designs of Harry Styles, Yegor Creed, A$AP Rocky, Lil Nas X and Bad Bunny.
"If you find that wearing painted nails is a way to show off your creative side or an aesthetic that suits you, you shouldn't be judged for it," says Leal. “Outside opinions shouldn’t influence your aesthetic or anything you decide to do.”
The first collection of nail polishes from the Crete brand will go on sale on May 21.
