How, where, when: everything about opening a Kryolan online store in Ukraine

Ekaterina Strukova is a makeup and special effects artist in film and television with extensive experience. In 2016, she opened the first work shop in Ukraine for make-up artists, Strukovafx.com, and a store for every specialist in this industry, Makefx.com.ua. Ekaterina is the winner of the “Dziga Gold” award in the category “Best Make-up Artist” for the film “Brahma” in 2019, and is also a member of the jury of our project Pro Beauty Battle: Makeup .

On March 26, under her leadership , the online store Kryolan opened its online doors in test mode, and in the future we will see the opening of an offline store of the worldwide network in the heart of the capital. Delivery of cosmetic products is already available to customers, and a pick-up point for online orders has been set up in the city center. Here, after the end of the lockdown, you will be able to test the products of a famous German brand.

Let us remind you that Kryolan has been operating in the world of cinema and television for more than 70 years. He was one of the first to conquer makeup artists and won his place in the sun. To date, the company has released more than 16,000 products for 80 countries.

Ekaterina shared with us her impressions and her own experience, how she managed to become the official representative of such a large-scale brand and how, despite the quarantine, German beauty products finally arrived in Ukraine.

Probably, the masters know that we are one of the few who bring special effects to Ukraine, and the only ones who present such a wide range. This is not just cosmetics for beauty professionals, but special makeup and effects for photo and video filming, more focused on television and film production.

A year and a half ago, we took a chance and wrote to Kryolan. But not in order to obtain the rights, but to resolve the issue of fast deliveries only for special effects, since the range for show business and the film industry is wide.

They wrote it and forgot it. A couple of months later we received an answer: we were informed that there were now delays in deliveries, as the brand had some issues with the distributor. The company management sent us the dealers' price list. And we happily ordered a package of different types of blood, colored hairsprays, mustache glue and all sorts of make-up stuff. (Smiles.)

Having received the parcel, they immediately reduced the prices of the products, since they stopped repurchasing funds from sellers. I now no longer remember all the details of the correspondence, which lasted four months, but already on February 14, 2020, Mr. Langer sat with me at the same table and tried borscht in Kyiv. (Smiles.)

I couldn’t believe my eyes, because few representatives of such global companies come to personally meet and discuss the details of the contract. Everything was perfect, he, like a father, took on the task of consulting young specialists and told them how to run a business.

But the corona quarantine took its toll. Our trip to the factory in Berlin was disrupted. Oh, how many plans there were... The current time teaches us to live differently. But we didn’t give up and exactly a year later we did a Kryolan photo shoot, but from the Ukrainian side.

At the moment, we have opened an online store in test mode, but I really hope that the world will change again and everyone will start traveling again not in Zoom, but in reality. And then we will be able to open the doors of the Ukrainian Kryolan somewhere in the center of Kyiv, and Mr. Langer will definitely come to this event.

In the meantime, we will surprise our actresses and models with the work of Ukrainian artists, try to develop the direction of makeup and make-up in Ukraine, and also create interesting collaborations so that the whole world knows about us!
