Where can you learn the art of plastic makeup?
In our country, the plastic makeup industry is developing at a good pace. There are studios where they teach makeup skills. My studio also provides training in several areas such as special effects, airbrushing and body art.
How financially demanding is the makeup industry?
Materials and products are very expensive. But this concept includes safety for the actor or client and, of course, ease of use and a result that corresponds to the task. Therefore, you should not save on money, you just need to more carefully calculate estimates for projects and in personal practice.
What genres of films are most interesting to the make-up artist (horror, fantasy, children's or war)?
The most interesting tasks! Where you can roam, and not just powder your nose. (Smiles.) I think it’s interesting to work on different images, in different styles and directions. But, of course, in films where there are a lot of transformations, and these are military, historical, fantasy, and, of course, horror!
Where does work on the image begin?
The work begins with a reference. You need to understand exactly what they want from you, and then make a decision on how and by what means you will implement the task.
If this is your idea, start with a sketch: it will help you understand how to implement the image, figure out what materials you need, and calculate costs.
What difficulties should a beginning master be prepared for?
The artist must be prepared for the fact that makeup takes a lot of time. It also requires labor and financial expenses, just like any other field. To make your work enjoyable, gather a team of like-minded people, make a good portfolio and receive dividends!
The main thing is not to be afraid to experiment and be sure to simultaneously engage in academic drawing and sculpture! This will be a huge plus for you!
Expand your horizons, increase your skills and enjoy everything you do!
