Halloween is a bright holiday when you can turn into the hero of your favorite horror movie and come to the party unrecognizable! This day is a reason to show your creativity and try on a new dizzying look! And it seems that so many articles have already been written about how to do makeup and what looks are trending. I want to share my thoughts on where to get ideas and how to implement the image.
And, really, this is the most difficult thing - to come up with an image that would not be repeated and would not be banal! When ideas get stuck, use the creative techniques that creative teams use to find new solutions. Search the Internet for “creative methods for finding new ideas” and you are sure to find many fun ways to do so. One of my favorites is visual association techniques. Collect many different pictures: these can be not only screenshots of Halloween images, but also simply atmospheric illustrations. Then take a notepad and, going through the pictures one by one, come up with associations for them - the first ones that come to mind. Don't stay too long on one picture! Now try to figure out how you can connect your associations with a new image. At this moment, a new idea may come to you!
And now I’ll share with you examples of how I came up with ideas and created different images.
Golden mask
This image is based on the new reality, the need to wear masks and restrictions. Restrictions are associated with chains, and these elements are also present in makeup. By the way, this was the most difficult thing. The chains and all the decorative elements are heavy, so I attached them to the skin using DUO eyelash glue. My model was a guy, so the makeup had to be masculine. Looking through the vivid images, I remembered the game Mortal Kombat. My makeup sketch was based on the mask of one of the main characters.
For cosmetics, I needed black gel eyeliner, black eye shadow, metallic powder from Mehron in a gold shade and gold glitter.
Johnny Dep
Creating makeup for doubles is one of the most difficult tasks! This is where your ability to draw and understand how light and shadow works comes in handy.
To create the most similar image possible, you should have a similar face shape and as many similar features as possible to the person or character you choose. Find an actor or actress you may have been compared to at some point. Think through the image down to the smallest detail: hairstyle, accessories, clothes.
You will definitely need a palette for sculpting your face with different shades, light powder or matte shadows, a soft black or brown pencil. Draw characteristic lines on the face (wrinkles, eyebrow shape, moles, etc.) and eye makeup. Now look in the mirror and at a photo of your character, add or remove volume to your face using contouring.
In my case, the biggest problem was the discrepancy between the eye shape and my character. So I used glue to slightly change the shape of my eyes by applying the product into the crease of my eyelid.
Cruella
Well, there was no need to invent anything here, since Cruella is a trendy image of this year. After the release of the film, dozens of girls and boys dyed their hair in the style of the main character. I used a wig and a collection of Avon cosmetics. I wanted to show that a bright image can be created not only with professional cosmetics, and that this is accessible to every girl or guy. Even if you have never done makeup, you can experiment on Halloween and write off all mistakes in the technique as “that’s how it was intended.”
I wish you a great time and create a unique image!
