The skin microbiome can be changed for the better, but it is also affected by many factors that cause disruption.

How is the skin microbiome formed? The microbiome of the skin begins to form from the moment of birth. Microorganisms colonize the skin, getting on it when the baby passes through the birth canal. The microbiome of the skin of children born by caesarean section is most similar to the microflora of the skin of the mother's abdomen.

The microbiome is relatively stable and consists of two communities of microorganisms/fungi/viruses: resident and transient flora.

The resident flora is like a fingerprint – unique but similar to the flora of family members. This is the microbiome you get from birth. It can be changed, but most changes are temporary.
