Let's consider the mechanisms of dehydration and the principles of moisturizing the skin; let's find out what stages should be included in the tactics of restoring the epidermal barrier, as well as what criteria are the main ones when choosing means to combat dehydration.
Our body consists mainly of water: its relative content is the highest in babies - 75% of the total body weight. Water plays the role of a solvent, coolant, and vehicle, regulates body temperature, transports nutrients, removes decay products, and participates in absolutely all processes occurring in cells.
Dehydration of the body negatively affects our work capacity, mental activity, and sleep. In addition, it leads to an increase in the risk of various diseases, as the volume of circulating blood decreases, instead, the concentration of cholesterol, fats, glucose and decay products increases.
The level of water content in the skin depends not only on its physiological processes, but also on its aesthetic appearance. The dehydrated skin dries out, becomes covered with a network of small wrinkles, existing wrinkles deepen, tissue turgor decreases, vascular fragility increases, as a result of which vascular "stars" may appear. Of course, the principles of moisturizing the skin have their own characteristics depending on the reasons that caused the dryness.
