Over the past 20 years, knowledge about papillomavirus infection of the skin and mucous membranes has expanded significantly. Practical medicine has come very close to the use of a preventive vaccine, the methods of destruction of papillomavirus formations are being improved, and new methods of influencing the virus are emerging. We bring to your attention an overview of the techniques available today to a dermatologist specialist.
When the virus enters the body, the papillomavirus infection, as a rule, proceeds subclinically, and a pronounced clinical picture develops only in the presence of provoking factors: stress, trauma, active UV radiation, concomitant diseases (for example, sexually transmitted diseases), congenital and acquired disorders immunity (both local and general), violations of antiviral protection mechanisms.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a DNA virus that infects exclusively the epithelium of the skin and mucous membrane. HPV is found everywhere in human tissues and in some cases is the cause of the development of tumor processes. To date, more than 120 types of HPV have been identified, which differ in the amino acid composition of DNA.
Genital papillomavirus infection is more common in HIV-positive patients than in the general population. In such patients, the formations differ in multifocality and a larger area of damage compared to the general population.
