There is currently no specific treatment for papillomavirus infection. The goal of treatment is the disappearance of skin lesions visible to the naked eye. First-line drugs include most destructive methods, including applications of salicylic acid, cryodestruction, surgical excision, and laser vaporization.

It was established that after the destruction of visible rashes, the virus persists in the apparently healthy epidermis, which leads to frequent relapses (about 30%). According to various data, the effectiveness of treatment with exophytic condyloma ranges from 50 to 94%. At the same time, the most applicable are ablative techniques, which are also considered the most effective, that is, those that ensure the disappearance of rashes after a single treatment.

With surgical excision, cryodestruction, laser destruction and electrocoagulation, complete disappearance of rashes is observed in 31-93% of cases. With these methods of treatment, there is also a high percentage of relapses in the first 3 months after treatment (from 21 to 95%).

Approximately the same results were obtained during the ablation of neoplasms using an infrared coagulator and a radio wave knife, with the difference that the severity of the inflammatory postoperative reaction is much lower and, accordingly, the healing time is shorter.
