Herpes in the cosmetologist's practice
Two thirds of the world's population is affected by herpes-virus infection
Any practicing cosmetologist encounters herpes manifestations in his practice, and he always has a question: what can be done in this case, and what procedures can not be carried out in the cosmetic office.

Herpes simplex virus consists of two, closely related antigens. One of them is called herpes simplex virus HPV-1, the second is called HPV-2.
It is scientifically proven that after primary infection, viruses "gather" in sensitive nerve ganglia (latent period). The problem of herpesvirus infection is quite serious. According to various estimates, up to two-thirds of the adult population of the world are infected with HPV-1. HPV-2 is much less common, its manifestations occur during puberty, its second name is genital herpes. In the United States, 25% are seropositive for HPV-2.
Herpes simplex viruses cause various lesions of the skin and mucous membranes in the form of primary infection or relapses.
HPV-1 is the cause of the most common herpes simplex disease of the face, lips and other non-sexual localizations. Whereas, HPV-2 causes genital herpes and neonatal herpes. Recently, there have been papers indicating a role for HPV-2 in the development of uterine neck cancer. Patients are usually unable to specify the exact time of infection, and herpes is currently categorized as "first episode" and "recurrence".
In the cosmetic office, specialists quite often encounter the manifestations of herpes recurrence. In people with acute and chronic immunosuppression, herpes can be prolonged and atypical.

I in my practice repeatedly met with Herpes labialis after procedures of permanent makeup on the face. Manifestations of rashes were so vivid, painful and discomforting, even with the manifestation of fever. After the process was completed, there was no trace of permanent makeup.
Therefore, a practicing cosmetologist should carefully collect anamnesis, taking into account the propensity of herpes to chronic recurrent course, and before any invasive procedure to conduct a prophylactic course of antiviral therapy.
