Evidence-based trichology: topical solutions that really work
Future prospects in the treatment of alopecia
Let's talk about trichological aspects and topical solutions that doctors use to solve hair loss issues. The report was presented by Starlit Group at Estet's online conference Skin Reprogramming Protocols: When? as? what?" November 14.
Human hair has a multi-layered structure, it is a complex nanocomposite fiber, which consists primarily of 80-85% protein, as well as melanin, water and lipids. If we talk about the science that studies hair (trichology), then this is actually the field of dermatology, which in the modern world is experiencing active development in terms of the number of patients and even scientific research.
The number of patients has increased during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is very interesting that two hair loss disorders have shown a significant increase: androgenetic alopecia and frontal fibrotic alopecia. If we talk about androgenetic alopecia, it is difficult to say whether the number of patients or simply the number of visits to doctors has increased.
Androgenetic alopecia is the most common form of hair loss that affects both men and women. It is influenced by genetics and sensitivity to androgens. Prevalence varies by gender and race, with older men and postmenopausal women most affected. However, hair thinning can begin as early as puberty.
