Skin whitening is a long and time-consuming process. Its success largely depends on the correct diagnosis, on whether the individual treatment program is correctly drawn up, on the use of antioxidant and photoprotective agents, etc.

Modern methods of hyperpigmentation correction are aimed, on the one hand, at the mechanical removal of pigment-containing structures, and on the other hand at suppressing melanin production. Preparations containing ANA acids and retinoic acid are suitable for exfoliation. In a number of cases, the use of peeling compounds is justified: Jessner's solution, salicylic acid 30%, phenol.

The most effective bleaching agent is hydroquinone. However, it should be remembered that this drug is toxic. It reversibly inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA in melanocytes. Therefore, its concentration in bleaching agents should be no more than 1–2%.

Therefore, two weeks before the planned peeling procedure, the client should apply a preparation containing a small amount of glycolic acid (or its analogue), retinoic acid and one of the whitening preparations described above, once a day (at night).
