Aging and detoxification: how to protect the skin?
Disruption of detoxification processes is one of the most important mechanisms of aging
Today, the choice of detoxification products in pharmacies is incredibly wide. Basically, they all consist of herbs, enzymes, antioxidants. These products combine diuretic, laxative and absorbent properties. They multiply the rate of work of the liver and kidneys, speeding up the metabolism, and also remove the products of fermentation and decay. But such a seemingly simple and effective method has a lot of disadvantages.
Detoxification is a metabolic process that the body uses to transform and remove toxins. This is primarily the process of converting fat-soluble toxins into water-soluble ones to facilitate their removal from the body.
One of the main self-defense mechanisms of the body is the neutralization of metabolic products and toxins and their transformation into soluble and safe by-products, which are then excreted. Of all the filtering and detoxification that happens automatically in our body, most of it happens in the liver.
The detoxification process takes place in two phases.
- Phase one is the first line of defense against toxins. Enzymes of the liver, affecting the chemical structure of the toxin, make it easier to remove from the body.
- The second phase is the body's second line of defense, binding toxins and removing them. Phase two further changes the structure of the toxin by adding a water-soluble molecule.
