Note to permanent makeup masters

The study of manual techniques is increasingly attracting permanent makeup masters: in addition to professional growth, it is also an opportunity to expand the client base by offering a new service with excellent results.

SofTap manual tattoo technique is one of the most popular methods of pigmentation. The founder of this technology is the company of the same name founded by Alexis Lawson. The first needle modules for permanent makeup of the American company SofTap were patented in the late 80s of the last century. The goal of the completely new manual technology SofTap was to create a very easy to learn and perform, slightly traumatic and versatile way of performing manual tattooing. This technique of injecting paint into the skin allows the craftsmen doing the work to feel the skin very finely and to make a minimum of trauma during pigmentation. The Softap technique goes well with the principles of delicate permanent make-up, which implies minimal trauma and maximum predictability of pigmentation results. Of course, provided that the specialists, taking the microblading technique into service, have sufficient experience, know about all the pitfalls, and generally understand the issue enough so as not to harm the client.

Unlike the use of tattoo machines, for an experienced specialist, manual makeup has a minimum of difficulties. First of all, you should pay attention to such differences:

  • Electric power of the machine. Each master must correctly calculate the necessary force of impact of the needle on the skin, which is much more difficult when using the device, and not his own hand.
  • Needle frequency. Manual permanent makeup using Softap technology involves 3-5 injections per second (machines can perform from 50 to 200 movements).
  • Angle of inclination and acupuncture technique. With Softap technology, there is only one proven technique and the correct angle (45 degrees), as opposed to 4 different ways of hardware makeup and a large number of variations of the optimal slope.

In other words, with manual pigmentation, the master can fully rely on his skills and feelings, without thinking about unnecessary parameters.

The uniqueness of the SoftTap technique tools

SofTap literally translates as "soft touch". This is a very delicate manual technique of permanent makeup, which is performed with a special handpiece with disposable sterile tips. The master manually injects the pigment with specially selected needles, which differ in length, thickness and flexibility: the thinner and more delicate the epidermis layer, the thinner the needle should be.

About 20 configurations of needles have been developed, including a nozzle consisting of 114 finest needles, which allows almost painless tattooing even on delicate areas.

Despite its relative simplicity, the Softap technique involves the use of the most advanced tools. This also applies to specially designed configurations of needle modules, the variety of which allows you to perform any task. We are also talking about unique pigments that are radically different from most dyes.

Working with pens with SofTap needle modules and the absence of a vibrating tattoo machine in the hand allows the microblading master to feel like a real creative artist. The fundamental difference between SofTap technology and other manual techniques is special needles and their special arrangement, which allows you to easily and as painlessly as possible introduce pigments into the skin with simple movements of springy needles, as if prying off the upper layers of the skin. Currently, SofTap has developed 20 needle layout options. 8 of them are needles soldered in one row (from 5 to 16 with a diameter of 0.35 mm), 5 models are a large bundle (from 3 to 36 needles) and 7 models of soldering needles in 2, 3, 4 and 6 rows (from 24 to 114 needles).

This variety of needle modules allows the master to perform almost any known technique on the eyebrows, lips and eyelids. Fine needles are used on thinner skin. As the master's skill with SofTap needle modules increases, he feels the amazing feeling of skin without the participation of a tattoo machine more and more, and he feels more and more like a real artist, no matter how perfect it is!

The needle modules of the American company SofTap are a huge success with masters working with pigments. The modules have a special configuration: both the end of the needle and its base are inclined at the same angle. This ensures comfortable work for the master and a minimum of pain for the client. This unique technology is patented and is called the Comfort System.

Benefits of using manual technology

In the manual SofTap technique, the master has full control over any movement of the needles and their impact on the skin. On average, a master of manual tattooing needs to make 3-5 movements with a needle on one area of the skin, and this is dozens less than when working with a tattoo machine. With the advent of steady experience, it is possible to achieve efficiency in virtually every movement of the needle.

Microblading using SofTap technology is the simplest, most versatile technique in any conditions and with any needle module. It consists in the penetration of the needle into the skin, with its slight prying. To obtain high-quality pigmentation, the angle of the needle to the surface of the treated skin area is always the same - approximately 45 degrees. As you may understand, the master performing the permanent makeup procedure with a tattoo machine must take into account many factors and parameters at once. And if the master has learned to “hear the skin”, then, of course, he can intuitively control all these parameters, for example, change the angle of the needles relative to the skin surface. But sensitively “listening” to the skin is often hindered by the vibration of the machine. Therefore, here, too, the advantage of microblading with the help of manual SofTap technologies over vibrating tattoo machines is clearly visible.

So, here are some of the benefits of using the manual SofTap technique, which are noted by the clients themselves:

  • much less painful course of the procedure of the tattoo itself;
  • faster and smoother healing;
  • lack of vibration of the maniple;
  • the speed of the tattoo procedure.

In addition, the vibrations of tattoo machines can lead to occupational illness. Yes, unfortunately, there are already masters who have been diagnosed with inflammation of the median nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome, which manifests itself in the form of numbness of the hands, as well as in tingling, burning sensations on the thumb, middle or index fingers, that is, on those who held a machine for permanent makeup. This disease is more common in women than men. And unfortunately, this disease is very difficult to cure. Therefore, the mastering of manual microblading using SofTap technology by permanent makeup masters is a great opportunity to prevent this disease without leaving their profession.
