Since the hands are the main tool of any beauty industry specialist, the issue of antisepsis is perhaps the most important for both the master and his client. But does everyone know how to properly approach the cleansing and disinfection of the skin of the hands?

Even being in the realities of a pandemic, one can state the fact that the issue of proper treatment of the master’s hands before and after the procedure is far from an obvious topic.

According to the rules, the master is obliged to observe the following rules for caring for hands:

  • hygienic washing - before and after the procedure, thoroughly wash your hands with soap;
  • treatment with a skin antiseptic - in beauty parlors for the treatment of hands, skin antiseptics are used, permitted by sanitary standards;
  • cosmetic care - use protective and emollient creams, lotions.

Choosing the right antiseptic

Skin antiseptics serve to reduce the risk of developing infectious diseases. They destroy or inhibit the growth of pathogenic microbes on the skin. They can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
In a pandemic, it is recommended to use spirits that contain at least 60% isopropyl alcohol or at least 70% ethyl alcohol. ⠀
Antiseptics are used only for the treatment of the skin of the hands, feet, for the disinfection of gloves worn on the hands of the master. Antiseptics categorically cannot be used as a disinfectant for tools, cleaning of premises, etc. However, modern universal antiseptics are now on sale, which additionally act as a means for express disinfection of small work surfaces.

An antiseptic must have all the necessary documentation:

  • instructions for use;
  • declaration of conformity;
  • certificate of state registration.

hand washing

Antiseptics are not effective unless hands are washed before using them. For these purposes, the master must use professional antiseptic liquid soap. Antibacterial bar soap from conventional stores does not have an antiseptic effect. In addition, this soap cannot be used in offices, as bacteria can spread on its surface. Liquid soap in a bottle with a dispenser is a guarantee that pathogenic microorganisms will not get into the product.

Instructions on how to properly wash hands for disinfection purposes have been developed:

  1. Pour a small amount of soap into the palm of your hand, rub one palm against the other.
  2. With the right palm, rub the back surface of the left hand, interlacing the fingers. We do the same with the right hand.
  3. Interlacing fingers, rub the palm of your hand.
  4. We connect the fingers into a “lock”, rub the palm of the other hand with the back of the bent fingers.
  5. We grasp the thumb of the left hand with the right palm and rub it in a circular motion. We do the same with the other hand.
  6. Rinse your hands with running water to completely remove the soap. We close the tap with our elbow, without touching it with clean hands.
  7. Be sure to dry your hands, preferably with a disposable towel or napkin. Wet skin is much more susceptible to contact with microorganisms than dry skin. Only after that we proceed to the second stage of hand treatment (antiseptic treatment).

Antiseptic treatment

The method of using antiseptics is quite simple: apply 3 ml of the product on the hands and rub into the skin until completely dry (20-30 seconds), paying special attention to the periungual beds and areas between the fingers. After treating the hands with an antiseptic, the master puts on gloves and can get to work.

When removing gloves after the procedure, there is a possibility that biological contaminants will get on the skin, therefore, in addition to the skin of the hands, it is recommended to process gloves before work.

After the procedure, the master must wash his hands with antiseptic soap according to the scheme proposed earlier. Then the master proceeds to the final, third stage.

Cosmetic hand skin care

Often masters neglect this stage and do not take care of their skin. However, frequent contact with alcohol antiseptics, water, prolonged use of gloves adversely affects the skin. There may be rashes, redness, the skin becomes dry and begins to crack. Take care with a professional cream for just a couple of minutes - this is the key to the beauty of your hands!
