Microshading, powder brows, ombre: what's the difference?
Note to permanent makeup masters
In the world of tattooing, new names of techniques for permanent makeup of eyebrows are constantly appearing. Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that sometimes really different techniques are hidden behind such a variety. But more often than not, it's a marketing ploy.
We offer you a description of several similar techniques for permanent eyebrow makeup, in which the master applies pigment in dots, and the result and final shade depends on the density of their location.
microshading
The name of the microshading technique (or the pixel technique of shadow shading of the eyebrows) comes from two words: micro - “small”, shade - “shadow, shade”. The essence of the technique lies in the fact that the master applies the smallest points on the eyebrows with a permanent makeup machine. Microshading is based on smooth transitions and careful shading. Applying them with a certain frequency, the PM master does not aim to completely fill the contour, changing the intensity of the pigment during the procedure, which achieves a natural effect.
Powder eyebrows
Powder eyebrows ( permanent eyebrow makeup using the “shading” technique; “spraying” technique ) are also a shading technique, but which originates in the “dotwork” tattoo technique. In this technique, the drawing is also done with dots, and the volume effect is achieved by changing the distance between the dots and by varying the number of layers.
As a result of the procedure, light, translucent eyebrows are created, without clear boundaries and contours, imitating the effect of eyebrows tinted with shadows or summed up with a soft pencil.
The pigment in the "powder eyebrows" technique is applied superficially and transparently. With the help of spraying, you can achieve different results - from a transparent haze to a more saturated, dense color. The pigment is applied to the upper layers of the skin, so the procedure is atraumatic, and this contributes to faster healing and a small release of color. Powder eyebrows are characterized by spraying the head of the eyebrow and a contourless shape.
The introduction of the pigment occurs by spraying it in 2-3 passes. The pigment should be selected as similar as possible to the native color of the hairs or to the regrown hair roots. A good residue and crisp pattern is more to be expected when using a synthetic pigment, as glycerin "rubbed" in the skin.
ombre
Eyebrow tattoo ombre, or Ombré Shading, is a smooth transition of color that adds depth and saturation to the eyebrows. Previously, the ombre technique was associated only with hair coloring, but now masters in the field of permanent makeup are improving this procedure so that the finished result looks as natural as possible.
Ombre is also applied with dots, but here two shades are used to achieve a smooth transition from light to darker at the ends of the eyebrows.
