The color of innovation and change

The Pantone Color Institute has traditionally chosen the main color for next year, or rather created it itself. Why it’s worth taking a closer look at next year - we’ll tell you in the material.

The main color of 2022 was 17−3938 Very Peri - a soft blue shade with a purple undertone. For the first time, the Pantone Color Institute did not choose a shade from an existing palette, but developed it independently using digital technology.

Its creators believe it encourages personal ingenuity and creativity. Very Peri aims to show us carefree confidence and bold curiosity, revitalizing the creative spirit, and its main goal is to help us “embrace the changed landscape of possibilities.”

The creators describe the new color as “a dynamic blue with an invigorating violet-red hue that combines the loyalty and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red.”

When choosing the shade of the year, the Pantone Color Institute relied on the current reality, in which the popularity of the metaverse is growing every day, and we all simultaneously live in the digital space. In this way, the color of the year reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place.

Interestingly, in Persian mythology, Peri refers to beautiful winged spirits known for their mischief. Let us remind you that Pantone has been choosing the main color of the year for two decades.
