Spray nail polishes appeared back in 2015 and at that time made a lot of noise, but it was in 2020 that people started talking about them again.

In 2015, the British company Nails Inc introduced the first nail polish in the form of a spray, Paint Can Nail Polish. According to the manufacturer, this beauty product allows you to create the perfect manicure in just a couple of minutes. Of course, there was a noticeable excitement around the first spray varnish, and those wishing to purchase the innovative product even lined up in virtual queues.

Over time, other brands decided to release their own versions of spray nail polish, and millions of girls temporarily switched to this coating option.

What is spray nail polish and how does it work?

Spray varnishes are sold in small cans and sprayed onto the nails. The instructions for use are incredibly simple, which won over even the most frequent clients of beauty salons and, of course, lovers of home manicures.

First, you need to cover the nail plate with a base coat of regular polish and let it dry. After this, shake the can and spray the polish on your nails, without worrying that the spray gets on the cuticles and skin of your hands. Then you need to fix the coating with a top coat, and after it dries, wash your hands with soap - the varnish is easily washed off from the fingers and remains only on the nails.

Advantages and disadvantages of spray varnish

Of course, the main advantage of the product was the speed of application. Just two to three minutes is enough to cover all 10 nails.

Another clear advantage is the maximum ease of use of spray varnish. Even girls who have never had a manicure before can create a very satisfactory cuticle coating without any problems. Moreover, using spray varnishes is very interesting and fun, so it’s definitely worth a try.

But it was not without its drawbacks. In practice, applying the product evenly is a little more difficult than it seems - it is advisable to cover the entire nail with one spray. The next problem is that it’s not so easy to wash off shining sprays from the skin of your hands, so 2-3 minutes for a manicure extend to 5-10.

Bloggers and manicurists also noted that colored sprays without shimmer in the composition look sloppy on the nails, and the main problem was the fragility of the manicure - the varnish begins to chip off after just a couple of days, or even earlier.

What's next?

And although spray polish was predicted to be an incredible success in the cosmetics market, it turned out to be short-lived and soon remained more of a fun toy than a full-fledged analogue of polish, and especially gel nail polish.

Spray varnishes are still sold in large American online stores, but they are not popular in Ukraine.

The world started talking about spray polishes again in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, which hit the beauty industry hard. And although strict quarantine ended long ago for many countries, many girls did not return to beauty salons and began to do manicures and apply nail polish on their own. Of course, in light of recent events, spray varnishes have every chance of returning to the peak of popularity. Whether they will be able to regain their former glory - time and circumstances will tell.
