Between nail aesthetics and art: the strangest nail shapes

And a little crazy

Tokyo-based manicurist Moeko Nakamura admits she is obsessed with art. That is why she creates fantasy, strange and sometimes just crazy nail shapes that are worth a closer look.

Spiked nails, nails in the shape of teeth or hooks, nails consisting of many nails, convex nail plates and pierced tips - you just don't see anything on Moeko Nakamura's Instagram account. The Tokyo-based nail artist creates tips in a variety of shapes and sizes, without limiting his imagination and without thinking about things like practicality, trendiness or public opinion. Pure art, a little craftsmanship and nothing more.

Moeko has been working with nails for over 10 years. She admits that her first works were fashionable and even pop, but over time everything changed.

“I am obsessed with DIY art. In my images, beauty and strangeness are mirrors, and they must intersect and stay together to be whole.”

In an interview for Perfect, the Master admits that he rarely makes sketches of his future works, thinking through all the details in his head. “If you are a manicurist, you understand that you can only think about the artistic process in a hurry.” To perform her work, she uses nail polish, gel, acrylic and many other nail materials. Moeko clarifies that the most difficult thing to work with is gel, as it tends to harden and change its texture.
