What to do if your hair doesn’t hold curls well?

The client has a complex hair type - what to do if the hair is difficult to style and does not hold a curl? For me at the moment there is no such thing as a complex hair type and I will share with you some recommendations.

Of course, before I also had types of hair that did not lend themselves to curling or resulted in a lot of creases. They did not hold on and some of them unraveled within half an hour. I was worried that clients did not wear their hair for a long time, and I began to study this topic in detail and found answers to all my questions.

Now for me there are types of hair that are absolutely easy to curl and those that require more thorough preparation, that’s all.

And so, a complex hair type is just hair that just needs to be prepared in such a way that it changes its structure and becomes convenient for your further work.

What type of hair holds curls best?

- blonde (porous and bleached) is considered the most suitable for permanent wrapping. Therefore, its preparation is completely minimal: it is only possible to slightly moisturize and “pacify” the porous fluffy ends.

And the worst thing?

- natural hair is considered the most difficult; at the beginning of working with it, you need to carry out a correct diagnosis and determine whether it is soft and vellus hair; dense, heavy and glassy, or dehydrated, which are highly electrified.

And having already found out that the most suitable type of hair is porous, hard, inelastic, then all “complex” types should only be compacted and made more loose and rigid.

In my work, I devote a lot of time to the hair preparation stage so that the result surpasses itself and the styling lasts until the next wash. No matter what techniques we know, they won’t help your hair stay in place if you haven’t prepared it correctly.
