Each haircut, be it crop, fade, or undercut, has its own periods of relevance. They are brought back into the trend line either by stars who change their image, or by the main characters of their favorite TV series. Yes, in recent years the undercut has become popular among customers who watched Peaky Blinders.

Indeed, the heroes of the series Peaky Blinders wore undercut haircuts for a reason. The creators of the series tried their best to convey the spirit and habits of the British in the 20s of the 20th century.

It was during that period that the undercut haircut arose and came into use and has not lost its popularity to this day, because it is already about 100 years old. The first were British soldiers of the First World War, and then German ones.

Later, members of the Hitlerjugend organization used this particular haircut as their distinctive feature, and then the undercut spread to everyone who was in any way related to German secular society. Later, this haircut became popular outside Germany, for example, in the States.

Nowadays, the undercut is probably one of the most popular men's haircuts. Its high-contrast texture is unique and easy to remember, and the cut gives the wearer a stylish, sophisticated look.

What are the distinctive features of the undercut?

The most recognizable element of the undercut is the contrasting transition between very short hair in the temporal and occipital areas and long hair on the crown. Thanks to such a non-smooth transition, the emphasis falls precisely on the length in the crown area, which can be styled in different ways and change images.

In addition to the standard one, the following types of undercuts are distinguished:

The short one is the “original” of the First World War, which we talked about above. The temporal zones are very short, but the crown zone is not too long to be conveniently combed to the side.

Classic - the length of the parietal zone is average, this mass of hair is laid back.

Undercut on the side - medium, short or elongated version, laid to the side along the parting.

With bangs up to 18 centimeters long - more reminiscent of a top hot, adapts to Rockabilly (a subspecies of Pompadour).

What face shapes are undercut suitable for?

The square undercut suits the face shape well, since this haircut makes the face softer and less angular. Likewise, the undercut goes with diamond-shaped faces for the same reason: the cut makes the face less angular.

The undercut perfectly harmonizes a round face shape. If the client has a triangular or oval face shape, you can experiment with a short undercut.

The undercut can be styled in different ways and end up with several different hairstyles.
