Short women's haircuts often become a favorite topic of discussion among hairdressers. This is commerce, this is style, this is demand among clients. Our regular expert Pavel Butylsky shared his vision of short haircuts and also listed the top most current ones.

How popular are short haircuts among clients now?

Let's take a little excursion into history. We are familiar, for example, with Joan of Arc, who wore a short haircut, although in those days this was rather the exception to the rule. With the development of the emancipation movement, women began to shorten their hair, and by the 20s of the 20th century, haircuts reached the earlobes, and in combination with the “cold wave” they became classics.

The second surge in the popularity of short women's haircuts occurred thanks to the legendary Vidal Sassoon in the 60s of the last century. His famous “5 points”, “pixies”, executed on the heads of famous models and actresses of that time, forever secured the status of a short women’s haircut.

A short haircut is also irrespective of a woman’s age. It rather depends on the internal state and mood. I believe that you can be feminine regardless of the length of your hair and contrary to the stereotypical opinion that “hair adorns a woman.”

There are funny cases when a client wears her hair long, almost always pulled into a ponytail, but wants to change dramatically. That is, her face is completely open, and if you look from the front, no hair is visible at all. I suggest a very short haircut that leaves the facial features open. What will change? Yes, the tail of your hair will go away, but the beauty of your face will not go anywhere! But the time for washing and drying hair will be reduced. Of course, I never insist, because the final choice is up to the client.

Is there a face shape/body type that should absolutely not cut your hair short?

In my opinion, there is no face shape, body type or other “indicators” for which it is absolutely forbidden to cut your hair short. It all depends on the desire of the client and the high professionalism of the hairdresser, that is, on his knowledge of the structure of the human head, hair growth characteristics, hair types, facial correction using a haircut, technical cutting skills and personalization of the final result.
