The perfect combination: the main colors of 2021 according to Pantone

For only the second time in more than 20 years, the Pantone Color Research Institute has chosen not one, but two important colors for the coming year. They became a calm gray called Ultimate Gray and an illuminating yellow Illuminating.

“The combination of lasting 'perfect gray' and bright 'illuminating' yellow sets a positive mood, supported by fortitude,” explained Pantone executive director Leatrice Eisman of the 2021 choice.

Why did Pantone choose exactly two shades this time? Laurie Pressman, the company's vice president, explained that 2020 has shown us how much we need each other and that our connection with others provides the fortitude and hope we need now to keep moving forward.
