This hairdresser's imagination is limitless, and every image in his collection makes you look at the work for a long time.

In an interview for the Fashion Mirror magazine, this Englishman was laconic and precise - all in the spirit of conservative Great Britain. However, as it turned out, in his work he is a representative of far from consistent forms and cuts. Sylvester Finold is the winner of The AIPP Awards 2018 in the Avant-Garde category.

  1. Sylvester, what hairdressing competitions have you taken part in?

In 2018 I took part in The British Hairdressing Awards where I was a finalist; at The AIPP Awards – where I took first place in the “Avant-garde” category, and at The International Hairdressing Awards first edition, where I also became a finalist in the “Avant-garde” category.

And in 2017, at The British Hairdressing Awards, I managed to reach the final for the best avant-garde look, then I took part in The AIPP Awards and The International Hairdressing Awards for the first time. And this year, 2019, I again became a finalist in The British Hairdressing Awards.

  1. Tell us in more detail: what are the rules for participation in the Avangard nomination? Anyone can try their hand?

In the “Avant-garde” category there are no specific rules, except for the obligatory condition - the imagination of everyone who wants to express themselves. This is why I like this nomination so much – there are no restrictions on creativity.

However, to take part in The British Hairdressing Awards you must live in the UK. But absolutely anyone can become a participant in The AIPP Awards or The International Hairdressing Awards.

  1. Why did you decide to try yourself in the competitive movement?

Probably, with this I wanted to express and express myself, to push my creativity a little further. When you set big goals for yourself, you have to jump above your head and your capabilities. I also wanted to compare myself with the best hairdressers in the world.

  1. Is it prestigious to participate in competitions in your country? Or is it considered a waste of time?

Hairdressing in the UK is a very prestigious business. To be a finalist in three huge competitions in one year is incredible and I'm proud of it.

  1. What prize does the winner receive?

The prize for the winner will be a trophy and recognition of his professionalism at the national level. But such a competition is not a story about material rewards for victory. It's about enjoying what you do and pushing yourself towards better and bigger things.

  1. Tell us about yourself in a few words.

Just a few? I am persistent, loyal and really love chocolate. And I’ve been working at TONI&GUY UK for about 7 years.

  1. What should a master have to create a cool collection?

To create a good collection, a master must first practice a lot. It is also important to have a professional team in which everyone understands each other.

  1. What avant-garde style trends are relevant today?

In reality, there are no annual trends at the forefront. Everything concerns only your imagination. Agree, it is important to create something that people have never seen before.
