Styling products and their functions: stylist explains

Today I want to tell you about styling products, as well as what and how exactly they can help a hairdresser. If you follow our publications, you probably noticed that the answers to many questions about styling have already been revealed. The topic of styling products is my favorite.

There are a huge number of styling products. Styling products combine hair conditioning and protection properties. In many styling products, the main ingredient is panthenol, which penetrates the cuticle layers and restores the natural moisture of the hair. Without this necessary conditioning, the hair may not set in shape due to static charge.

For such cases, I recommend mousses and special sprays, because they are the ones that counteract this effect. Many styling products have a very important point - components for protection against ultraviolet rays.

Creamy styling products nourish hair. Thanks to another component demidekone - silicone-based oil - hair becomes smoother.

Another type is texturizing products. The properties of different products give the hair a matte and shiny effect, light oils give it a glossy effect, and creams or waxes give it a powdery effect. Straight hair in good condition will be smooth and shiny, while curly hair will have maximum texture.

Basically, all of the above styling products are applied to damp hair. Finishing styling products are applied to dry hair and after styling can provide long-term hold, shine, volume, density, matte effect, etc.

Hairspray provides different levels of hold, from flexible to strong, and when divided into types, they are liquid and dry.

But, as I like to say, any style looks beautiful on healthy and well-groomed hair.
