The round shape of a haircut using the line technique is very often mistakenly called by the common name - “sessun” haircut. But technically this is incorrect, says our expert. What is this form of haircut and when is it better for a hairdresser to resort to it? Let's figure it out.
Some hairdressers define haircuts by certain names. In our case, I can define such a haircut as “page”, “sessun” and more.
Calling the haircut shape shown in the main illustration a “sessun haircut” is incorrect, since the technically correct designation is a round shape using the line technique.

If we take a closer look at both the shape and technique, the round shape is a haircut shape that creates short length at the face and lengthens towards the back of the head. It is used if the client wishes to create a shorter length on the face and leave more length on the back of the head.
Essentially, this is lengthening the hair from the face to the back of the head with the dynamics of the haircut in the direction of the back of the head.
What does the line technology provide? The line technique is the creation of hair thickness along the contour of the haircut.
If you use the line and round technique for medium hair length, then visually the client’s hair mass will increase significantly. Therefore, if the master is faced with the task of increasing hair mass, this is an excellent option.
Therefore, I recommend that the hairdresser rely only on technical definitions to create an individual shape for the client. Indeed, “specific” names of haircuts make it easier for the client to understand, but limit the choice of haircut for the client, because techniques and shapes, as well as their combination, can provide a huge selection of haircuts.

Therefore, “Sessun haircut” is not a definition of a specific form, but a definition of the style of work in haircuts, which Sessun himself created. And all haircuts in this style are called “sessun”.
