Microconsulting: how to master Mario Dedivanovic's makeup technique?
Natural result
Mario Dedivanovic created a makeup technique that, surprisingly, is great for creating natural makeup, but at the same time masks all the imperfections on the skin.
Mario Dedivanovic is the favorite makeup artist of star beautyKim Kardashian and the creator of her signature technique, “contouring.” But last year, the makeup artist presented us with a completely new approach to facial makeup, designed to make it natural, fresh and as natural as possible.
There are many methods to disguise and hide imperfections on the face, but not all work as effectively as a new technique called micro-concealing. This is a clever way to hide pimples, age spots and blackheads, and even out skin tone without covering your entire face with heavy foundation .
What is the essence of microconsulting?
Microconcealing is a complex technique for masking problem areas on a client’s skin. Using a very thin, pointed brush, the makeup artist covers imperfections with concealer, as if creating an airbrushed effect. All you need to master the technique is a light hand, a small amount of product and a precise brush.
This technique is ideal for client makeup, especially in the summer season. Girls don't want to feel tons of makeup on their face, and micro-concealing is almost invisible even from close range. This way, all imperfections are hidden, but the tone remains fresh and natural.
How to do microconsulting?
Start by applying a primer all over your face, followed by a tinted moisturizer to pre-even out your skin tone. After that, focus on the points and areas that need to be camouflaged, such as around the nose, lips or eyes.
Use the correct shades from the concealer palette to neutralize imperfections that may vary in color. If you use one concealer, it should perfectly match your skin color so that you don't end up with a mask effect. If you don’t have the shade you need, use an adjuster . Mixing and matching is an integral part of a makeup artist's job.
Apply concealer with a thin pointed brush to all points that need to be camouflaged. After this, “pull” the product a little, without applying much force to the brush. Then blend the product using your fingertips, brush or sponge. Gently patting the concealer into the skin for an even application and a natural look. Set your makeup with translucent powder or setting spray.
“The micro-concealing technique is best suited for those who want to use a minimal amount of product and achieve a fresher, more natural complexion,” concluded Mario Dedivanovic.
What else is important to pay attention to?
Pay attention to the texture of the product. Dry, waterproof or creamy products are best for this technique.
We also emphasize once again that the amount of product applied to the skin should be minimal. Otherwise, you risk going overboard and creating noticeable and obvious makeup, which is not the goal of this technique. Therefore, every step must be deliberate and precise, and movements must be light and smooth.
Mario Dedivanovic's Top 3 Products for Micro-Consulting
Mario Dedivanovic spoke about two of his favorite flawless concealers - Laura Mercier's Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Concealer and Secret Camouflage. The first one does not fit into fine lines, so it is ideal for women over 40. The second one is especially good if you need to hide dark circles under the eyes or uneven areas on the skin (for example, age spots). Mario also loves the Perfectionniste Concealer tri-color palette from Suratt Beauty.
If you follow all the rules, you will get perfect, but at the same time fresh, real and breathable skin! We are confident that even the most demanding clients will appreciate this result.
