Due to its characteristics and structure, curly hair requires careful and careful care. Our expert spoke about the four main rules.

We recently talked to you about the curly hair washing method , which has been successfully existing for several years, but in 2020 it again “blowed up” the Internet.

Like any phenomenon, this method has many advantages and disadvantages, for which it is loved or not considered useful.

This material is a kind of small reminder for curly-haired clients and hairdressers in the form of 4 most important rules.

Yulia Sedletskaya , hair and scalp rehabilitation specialist with 12 years of experience, technologist at ORising Ukraine

Curly hair is an exceptional hair type that I would not recommend combing several times a day. This is due to the fact that their structure is more susceptible to fragility and fragility. Therefore, the first rule is to comb your hair only when washing, first apply conditioner or mask to it for better glide and absorption of the product. And before drying, always apply a leave-in serum or fluid.

The second and very important unspoken rule is to deeply moisturize your hair. For long and healthy curls, you need to use mainly moisturizing masks, preferably with a low molecular weight, once every 5-7 days (keeping them under a plastic cap and exposed to heat for 15 to 60 minutes). And after washing off the mask, be sure to also apply a moisturizing balm. Remember that curly hair always lacks moisture.

To shape curls, I recommend using leave-in serums that do not contain too much styling (fluido modellante). Thanks to this, the curls will look more natural, and they will not wrinkle after sleep.

It is important to pay attention to cleansing the scalp. Often curly and wavy hair (due to its porous structure) does not become oily very quickly. Therefore, I strongly recommend the use of phytoenzyme peels, approximately once a week.

This action will prevent clients from developing dandruff, the accumulation of telogen effluvium (hair in the shedding phase), as well as seborrheic dermatitis. Remember that hygiene is the key to healthy skin, and therefore healthy hair.
