Line technique: how is it performed and what is important to consider?
Let's understand the concept

If a hairdresser is faced with the task of increasing hair mass or even creating it, a haircut technique called “line” comes into play. Our expert shared important points and approaches when working with this technique.

Line is a technique for creating or increasing hair mass.
The technique is performed by pulling the strands at 0 degrees in the natural fall of the hair. However, it is not enough to simply comb your hair in its natural fall. There are certain rules and differences, such as cutting your hair strand-to-strand or with increasing length, using slopes for different lengths, and cutting with or without tension.
What to consider?
There are two haircut options: “strand to strand” and “the next one is longer than the previous one.” The principle of cutting “strand to strand” is suitable for thin and healthy hair, and “the next one is longer than the previous one” - to compensate for increased elasticity or thickness.
Head tilts for cutting lengths below the shoulders are used relative to the section, and when cutting lengths up to the shoulders and shorter - along the radius.
It is worth using a comb with different densities of teeth for areas where there is characteristic hair growth to maintain natural growth. This approach will create the effect of strong tension or no tension on the hair strand.
The considered approaches will determine the ideal shape for each haircut using the line technique!
