Let's get inspired: the best makeup looks at Couture Fashion Week SS 2020
A treasure trove of ideas
Fashion Week is always a source of inspiration! We look at the most beautiful, amazing and original makeup images that the best makeup artists in the world worked on.
Couture Fashion Week holds a special place in the hearts of those who appreciate art, fashion and beauty. This is where the most extreme and creative images are born - and this applies not only to clothes, but also to makeup. The most influential makeup artists work to create makeup looks that not only harmoniously complement outfits, but are also separate works of art.
In our material you will find the most inspiring, non-standard and creative makeup solutions that are worth taking note.
Double arrows
Makeup images for Dior were traditionally developed by creative and image director of makeup Peter Philips. The makeup artist placed the main beauty accent on the eyes using contrasting double arrows in the outer corners of the eyes, shaded with gold. The ideal complexion served as a wonderful backdrop for expressive eyes, and only slightly penciled eyebrows and transparent gloss on the lips helped complete the look.
Shining glitter
Alexi Mabille presented a stunning collection of white dresses and suits. Against the backdrop of classic white, the makeup created by makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds looked especially impressive. He put two accents at once: black cat-like wings made the eyes more expressive, and red lips stood out with the help of color and shining glitter. This makeup look was inspired by images of Audrey Hepburn with red lipstick.
Pastel shades
Makeup from Pat McGrath for Valentino is always a whole story. This time, the makeup artist decided to use radiant textures of products on the models’ eyelids and cheekbones in airy pastel shades: sky blue, light peach and soft pink. Pat added another beauty accent with the help of blush in rich tones that match the eye makeup. Pearlescent glosses on the lips of some models make the makeup even more luxurious.
Innocent makeup
The Chanel couture collection embodies the atmosphere of school years and innocence, so the appropriate makeup was chosen. Lucia Pica, Chanel's world-renowned creative makeup designer, first prepped the models' skin with foundation and then created soft smokey eyes that blended perfectly with the look. Lucia left her lips untouched. “This makeup is light and shadow, contour, facial sculpture. It has a harmony of colors and textures,” summed up the makeup artist.
Emphasis on lips
For the Maison Margiela show , Pat McGrath created a completely unconventional makeup look. The undeniable accent was the lips of the models, which the makeup artist painted with the most unconventional shades: green, orange, blue and yellow. The wow effect was achieved! The rest of the face was left almost bare for better contrast, only Pat's skin tone was evened out using Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection.
