To choose the appropriate shades for makeup, use information about the girl’s coloring. How to determine it and what to pay attention to is described in the material.
There are six main colors: light, deep, warm, cold, contrasting and soft. Each of them is a combination of eye, hair and skin color. In the last article we looked at the first three color types - light, deep and warm, and in this material we will study in more detail cold, contrasting and soft colors.
Cold color
The client's hair has an ashy tint, the color of the eyebrows and eyelashes varies from very light to dark brown. Green, light brown, gray or blue eyes, skin with pink undertones. Dark skin may have a subtle blue tint.
Cold and soft
- Makeup should be in cool tones; use colors with blue undertones that are in harmony with your main palette.
- Use an amethyst or granite eyeliner.
- Create a color accent with heather, smoky and blue-gray shadows, complemented well by opal, lilac or dark gray shades.
- Blush should have a cool pink undertone.
- The best option is cool, soft shades of lip liners; try different shades of pink.
- Finish the look with lipstick in cool pink and soft pink-lilac shades, such as candy cane, pink-lilac, or soft berry shades.
Cold and contrasting
- Use cool shades in your makeup to balance out the cold color.
- For eyeliner, try sea element, soft black or violet blue.
- For a pop of color, choose eyeshadows in cocoa and dark, smoky gray tones that pair well with pearl or azure eyeshadows.
- The blush shade should also be cool, try a port wine tone.
- For girls with cold and contrasting colors, lip liners in rich pink or cool red shades are best suited.
- Give preference to cool and clean lipstick colors - light cherry, ruby or fiesta color.
Contrasting color
The client has dark hair, dark eyebrows and eyelashes, and light or dark skin. Bright eyes are a distinctive feature. They can be green, blue or topaz colored.
Contrasting and warm
- Makeup should use clean, bright colors. Decide what you want to emphasize: eyes or lips, but never paint both equally brightly at the same time.
- Opt for pine, amethyst, violet blue or cool green colors when choosing an eyeliner pencil.
- Shades of cocoa, steel, peppermint or heather, which go well with melon, peach or apricot, are suitable as the main color of the shadows.
- The blush should be warm; salmon shade would be perfect.
- The lip liner should be bright; try cantaloupe color.
- Complete your look with warm pink or coral lipstick.
Contrasting and cold
- Makeup should be dominated by pure shades; balance your contrasting colors with more saturated colors.
- When choosing an eyeliner pencil, choose blue-green or dark blue.
- Primary eyeshadow colors like mercury or mocha mixed with champagne or smoky gray eyeshadow will highlight your eyes.
- Blush should be cool and rich, try the tone of Marsala.
- For girls with contrasting and cool colors, lip liners in rich colors like red or hot pink are best suited.
- Lipstick in strawberry, ruby or shades of bright red will add completeness to your makeup.
Soft color
The client has light brown hair, dark or light eyebrows and eyelashes. Slight contrast between hair, eye and skin color. The eyes are a soft, muted color, be it hazel, hazel or green, that change color frequently.
Soft and warm
- Soft colors need to be complemented by soft, muted tones.
- Use bog, brown or coffee eyeliner.
- Gray-green, khaki or brown eyeshadow will pair well with peach, tan or toffee.
- Blush should be warm and soft, try ocher shades.
- Soft toned lip liners like nude or cinnamon work best.
- Apply lipstick to add definition to your face. Choose colors like sandalwood, ripe peach or nutmeg. As an alternative, you can use lip gloss; for girls with soft and warm colors, warm forest shades are suitable.
Soft and cold
- This color scheme needs to be complemented with soft, cold and muted tones. Avoid contrasting color combinations.
- Use coffee, eggplant, navy or granite eyeliner.
- Create a color accent with shadows of heather, cocoa, gray, and other smoky, gray and blue shades; they will be well complemented by pale pink and gray tones, melon color and cool brown.
- Blush should be cool and soft; try pink petal or candy cane shades.
- The best option is cool shades of lip liners; try pink or nude.
- Finish off your look with lipstick in cool, soft shades such as taupe or pinky lilac.
