Important information about thermal protection: what type of product should you choose?

I don’t know about you, dear colleagues, but my clients often ask about thermal protection during styling. Does it make sense to use thermal protection or is it a myth? If it makes sense, then how to select this thermal protection?

There are a lot of questions, but I will try to talk in detail about the different types of thermal protection.

So, as I already said, healthy hair is a source of pride and the key to client success. If you (or a client) blow-dry your hair at least once a week, then minimal hair damage is already occurring, especially at the ends, which are very easy to dry out.

I would like to remind you that before choosing hair cosmetics, carefully read the instructions for use and the effect on your hair. Thermal protection can be used on both wet and dry hair. There are three types of thermal protection products - spray, cream and oil.

Let's look at each of them in more detail.

Spray . The most convenient product, especially for home care. Apply the spray to damp hair (if it gets on the hair roots, it’s okay, since the product is based on alcohol components, so it evaporates quickly). Apply evenly to hair. Has a medium degree of fixation. Then you can simply dry your hair 100% and start styling.

Cream . Creamy thermal protection products are not always convenient for clients at home. But they have their own advantages due to several main ingredients (for example, glycerin), which provide smoothness, an antistatic effect against humidity for up to 7 days and thermal protection. In fact, there are no particular difficulties in application: we apply the product to damp hair, straight and comb it well. After your hair is 100% dry, you can begin heat styling. The product does not weigh down the hair and has a medium degree of fixation.

Oil . You need to be very careful with such products. The composition of oils varies, as does its purpose: they are for fine and densely coarse hair, for curly or curly hair.

The products contain different components, but mostly they are silicone, so I advise you to read the label carefully. It is better to take professional cosmetics. I recommend drying your hair to 70% and then applying the product evenly.

Sometimes the product may remain, and after drying the hair will remain greasy in places. When choosing an oil, in addition to thermal protection, characteristics such as nutrition, restoration and moisturizing, shine, and antistatic effect are also important. The oil can be used at the end of styling and on dry hair to remove the static effect.
