How to properly prepare your hair before cutting and styling?
There is a difference
Before cutting and styling, be sure to wash and prepare your hair. This is important not only from the point of view of hygiene, but also the quality of the form. However, preparing your hair before cutting and styling is a little different.
Our regular haircut expert, Evgeniy Pecheritsa , creative director of the HAIRDESIGN Academy, an international class master with 14 years of experience, the creator of the HAIRDESIGN academy training system and the formation of a teaching structure for the teacher of the entire team, told us how to properly prepare hair before cutting and styling. .
How to prepare your hair for a haircut?
1. Choosing a shampoo. Choose shampoo according to the type of scalp; if the client does not have problems with the scalp, then we choose it according to this principle.
2. Selecting an air conditioner. We choose conditioner according to hair type.
3. It is ideal to rinse your hair twice, this will ensure that the scalp is well cleaned.
4. The holding time of the conditioner must comply with the recommendations of the product manufacturer.
5. After washing, it is recommended to apply a leave-in product to moisturize your hair. This will retain moisture for a long period and make cutting easier.
How to prepare your hair for styling?
Preparing hair before styling requires a slightly different approach than before cutting.
1. Choosing a shampoo. When choosing a shampoo, we follow the same principle as when preparing hair for a haircut - according to hair type.
2. Selecting an air conditioner. We choose the conditioner according to the hair type, if there are no characteristic problems with the hair structure, and also depending on the styling idea. For example, if you need a larger volume, then we use a volume conditioner, etc.
3. Ideally, rinse your hair twice, this will ensure that the scalp is cleaned well.
4. The holding time of the conditioner must comply with the manufacturer's recommendations, but if a certain effect in styling is needed, then the conditioner may not be kept.
5. Before styling, you must apply a leave-in treatment and, depending on the styling idea, styling.
6. We select leave-in care according to the rule: “The density of the hair corresponds to the density of the product”: if the client’s hair is thick, then a creamy product will suit us (this is a dense product), and if the hair is thin, then it is better to use a spray-like product (this is a light product).
7. We select styling depending on the styling idea. For example, for better fixation and long-term wearability, we will use a mousse or cream, and for a light effect, a spray. Hairspray is only used to finish styling at the end.
