In the summer, the problem of dry and tangled hair becomes more pressing than ever. How to detangle your hair and are there any methods to avoid severe tangling? Let’s figure it out together with our expert, rehabilitologist-trichologist Yulia Sedletskaya.

The main reason why hair is constantly tangled is a damaged cuticle layer. If the keratin scales of the hair surface remain open, they constantly “cling” to each other, and, accordingly, constantly get tangled, and are also accompanied by a loss of shine, elasticity and healthy appearance.

Who most often turns to a trichologist/faces this problem?

This problem is really common. Very often it bothers long-haired girls and mothers of small children. It is the latter who constantly struggle with constantly tangled hair.

What to advise in this case? How to detangle your hair?

In my arsenal there are special serums that contain moisturizing components and light silicones. After applying them, the hair is quite easy to detangle. The main thing is to take your time and start untangling with your fingers and a comb from the very ends.

How to prevent hair tangling?

There are a lot of these rules, but I will answer the opposite: what needs to be done to prevent your hair from getting tangled?

- If your hair is long, braid your hair before going to bed.

- Do not engage in active sports with loose hair.

- Once a week, make masks for the hair structure, which restore the lipids of the intercuticular layers of the hair, since their deficiency is the main cause of friction and tangling of the hair.

- Wash your hair only upside down.

- Always use conditioner after washing and apply leave-in serums to the entire length of hair below the jawline.

- Buy a massage comb with soft teeth.

Have there been any cases in your practice when you had to cut off a client’s hair?

This hasn't happened to me, but I'm sure it's possible.
